Alfred Kubin, The Lady on the Horse, 1901 |
'The Lady on the Horse' is an expression of Kubin's early experiences of death; at the age of 19 he made a suicide attempt on his mother's grave. Fortunately, Kubin was able to make amends for his suffering through his own symbolist art. The scene beneath the 'horse' is Edgar Allan Poe, all the way home!
